What Substance Are You Made Of?
Your durability depends on the raw material. If it's not strong enough, you'd break.
Everyone is built differently, no doubt.
Experiences, people, the environment, and the consequences of our actions shape us. These factors forge how we view life and the world.
Our threshold for pain, outbursts of anger, the limit of endurance, and willingness to forgive differ from others, revealing the very person we are. But this should not define or limit us. It should lead us to the question, "What substance am I made of?
A wooden chair is made from wood and can break if thrown from a high building or hit with a hammer. But a metal chair won't be easy because of its durability. Both are chairs — the same product but made with different substances.
So this means that the materials used (people, experience, and belief) are fundamental to shaping who we are and what we've become.
Although these factors build us differently, they shouldn’t dictate your lifestyle. Instead, let the word of God mould you.
For example, if someone is struggling with addiction and turns to the Bible for resilience and strength, they may find the fortitude to resist temptation and make positive changes.
However, if they only read without putting them into action, they may continue to struggle and fall back into old habits.
By truly internalizing the words of Jesus and living according to his words, you can build resilience and overcome challenges in your life.
Jesus explained that a person who obeys him is like a man who built his house on a rock. Rock is solid and can withstand a lot of things.
If you yield to the words of Jesus, he calls you wise.
From scripture, we saw how great men conquered evil days and became wealthy because they listened to the voice of God. The Bible transforms and equips you to be and live better.
But if you hear and do not obey, it will be easy for situations to get the better of you. You'd be weak and accessible for the devil to oppress. Build substance on the Word.
What if you've been shattered and broken?
The potter wants to put you back together again! It doesn't matter what you were made of. He will work you into his masterpiece. What you need to do is to rededicate yourself and start heeding the Word.
